What Does A Business School Look in You ?

Graduate Schools look at one's profile as a whole to give an admit. Each school will have their own set of qualities that they will look in a candidate. Say for example, it seems Harvard Business School will look into and give a lot of importance for 'leadership qualities' in a candidate.

In short, it can be told that the Graduate Schools are evaluating each candidate in some parameters (not limited to) given below.

  1. Excellence in Academics
  2. Leadership Qualities
  3. International Experience
  4. Social Work done
  5. Diversity factor
  6. Extra curricular activities
  7. GMAT/GRE/IELTS scores etc.
  8. Work Experience

It however doesn't mean that one candidate has to excel in all areas. Application is looked into as a whole. That is, for example, for an admit into a business school, a good GMAT score can compensate for one's poor previous academic records. It is because, a good GMAT score indicates that, one can be academically brilliant and survive in a business school environment. The previous ‘not so good' academic records could be because of many other reasons such as one didn't actually pick the right course of interest during under grad etc.

As mentioned earlier, each graduate school will look for their ‘best fit' candidates while giving an admission offer. Therefore, it is important to research on these schools, connect with their alumni and find out if the school’s fit matches with you and vice versa.
